Start with the sales conversation you want
Travellers often enquire with several agencies in the same session, so a quick response can help—but speed without context is not enough. A rushed generic call can be less useful than a slightly later response that clearly understands the requested trip.
Bring in better-fit intent
Send an immediate acknowledgement that confirms the enquiry and sets a response expectation. Then route the lead to a person who can handle that destination.
Make the first enquiry easy
Create coverage for evenings or weekends only if the business can sustain it. Do not advertise “24/7” when nobody is monitoring the channel.
Close the loop with sales
Measure time to first meaningful response and compare it with contact and booking outcomes. Use data to set the service standard.
A simple lead-quality review
Take ten recent enquiries and trace each one from source to final sales status. Note whether the phone number worked, whether the destination and dates matched the offer, how quickly the team responded and why the lead progressed or stopped. Patterns appear faster in a small sample than in a large dashboard. Use those patterns to adjust the form, campaign or first reply. The objective is a cleaner sales conversation, not merely a bigger spreadsheet.
What to improve first
For the next week, review a small sample of leads connected to travel lead response time. Note where each enquiry came from, whether the person was reachable, whether the request matched the offer and what happened after the first response. Change only the part of the journey that repeatedly creates friction. This keeps the work tied to sales reality instead of optimising a form or ad in isolation.
